Semaine 50: JOCKSTRAP - I love You Jennifer B

 

Un des albums que j'écoute le plus actuellement vient d'Angleterre et perpétue avec audace une certaine idée du trip-hop aventureux.

Le duo Londonien Jockstrap a en effet sorti un premier album assez fascinant, intitulé I Love You Jennifer B, où se mélangent samples, hip-hop, électro ultra catchy et surtout la voix très expressive de Georgia Ellery.

Marchant sur les traces de Portishead, voire de Tricky pour les rythmes un peu bizarres et bancales,  Jockstrap a trouvé sa propre formule et aligne les tubes : Neon, Jennifer B ou le démentiel 50/50.
Ce qui donne un peu le vertige, c'est lorsque le groupe dégoupille une pop-folk assez moderne (What's It all About, ou Angst, pas loin de Billie Eilish) prouvant que Jockstrap a un talent fou, incapable d'être étiqueté.

Par sa variété, son ambition, sa richesse et ses idées, I love You Jennifer B enterre tous les autres disques electro sortis cette année. Au bout de deux mois d'écoutes intensives, je continue encore de me perdre dans cet album (Concrete Over Water est peut être le titre le plus bizarrement construit de 2022), c'est dire le foisonnement incroyable de ce disque.
