Semaine 37: SHE & HIM - Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson (2022)

 

Sur le papier, l'idée était charmante: le duo She & Him nous proposait de revisiter certains standards écrits par Brian Wilson avec les Beach Boys.

Au final, le disque est un aimable passe-temps, sans ambition, où M. Ward et Zooey Deschanel semblent tétanisés devant les chansons de Brian Wilson, ont peur changer une seule note et se la jouent hyper fidèles.

Un disque du coup totalement anecdotique et presque ennuyant.

Pourtant le track-listing état séduisant: Darlin', 'Til I Die, Don't talk, Meant for you and même Heads I Win-Tails I lose, que peu de gens reprennent.

Las, le duo se fait tout petit devant les chansons populaires des Beach Boys. Un comble, alors qu'on pourrait tenter des interprétations osées, à l'image de ce que M. Ward a pu faire autrefois.

Finalement, la seule interprétation qui interpelle est celle de Heads I Win-Tails I lose, totalement foutraque et pas terrible finalement, mais au moins She & Him auront tenté un truc.
Une immense déception.
